Responsible for Performance Tuning by monitoring efficient use of memory and CPU resources.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
3-5+ years database administration operations experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.
Strong knowledge of Transact SQL
Strong experience with creating physical database designs, performance optimization, clustering and database replication.
Strong knowledge of SSRS design and implementation
Experience with integration of SQL Server to any version control system.
Experience with SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Clustering, Log shipping, and High-Availability highly desirable.
Ability to perform code and design reviews.
Experience working with different editions of SQL Server including Developer and Enterprise and familiarity with their usage and limitations.
Solid understanding of Windows environment
Knowledge and understanding of disk capacity planning and monitoring.
Data migration and integration experience.
The following skill levels are a plus:
MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator)
Knowledge of the .NET platform and services oriented architecture
Experience with multi-platform data extract, transform and/or load (ETL) processes and OLAP, query and/or extract tools and others
Must possess excellent communication, organizational skills and project management skills.
Must be self-directed and effective working independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast paced environment.

TEKsystems has partnered with a client in Columbia, SC looking for a SQL Database Specialist to join their team on a full time basis. They are seeking someone with 2+ years of SQL Server Database experience.
The primary focus of this role is to develop, implement, administer, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all the client s databases. He/She will be responsible for working with the end users, contractors and other team members to ensure that they can elicit, analyze, design, and communicate requirements for changes to database design and technology.
The individual will be involved in report development using reporting tools (SSIS, SSRS). The individual will also be involved in the preliminary- database design stages.

Highlights of Responsibilities:*Install, support, maintain, and configure database products, including associated applications, interfaces, utilities, and data *Provide systems integration services, including integrating database servers and identify potential systems integration issues *Recommend integration strategies to facilitate data collection, data entry, data exchange, data reporting and query processes within and between existing COTS applications *Provide database administration in terms of performance, maintenance, synchronization, security, and accessibility of production Microsoft SSQL Server database systems with demonstrated proficiency in database replication, backup and restore, performance tuning and scalability *Setup new Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases, provide capacity planning, and continued database maintenance and support following industry standard best practices *Provide database support for applications such as Microsoft SharePoint Portal Services, Blackberry Enterprise Services, Planview Portfolio Management systems, and other COTS applications *Troubleshoot system issues, monitor scheduled jobs and set up maintenance plans for proactively monitoring the performance of all SQL Server databases including monitoring failed and long running MS SQL Server jobs *Monitor, tune and analyze database performance and allocate server resources to achieve optimum database performance Talent and Resources, Aligned. www.superiorjobs.com.
